Building the Kingdom
by Pastor Randy Gilbert
Jesus made the statement in Mark chapter 4 that “The sower soweth the Word” (Mark 4:14). He was commenting on the parable He had just spoken which we call the parable of the sower. He used the analogy of a farmer casting seed. Some seed fell on the wayside (a roadway), some on uncultivated earth (rocks), some among thorn bushes, and some into well cultivated, prepared ground.
The “field” in the parable represents the human spirit or “heart.” He then explained to His disciples that this process of casting seed “to the wind” was exactly what He was doing in His large meetings. He told this parable without offering any explanation or meaning to the multitudes and then walked away. The question could be asked if this was really effective ministry.
The answer is “yes!” Because the “seed” was the Word of God. His confidence was in the Word producing its desired effect even when it did not look possible. Jesus used the technique of “broadcasting” His message to anyone who might hear it. On another note, He also used a more “kinetic” approach by ministering healing and deliverance to people through individual prayer. He spent time teaching His disciples through rote-rote and precept as well. But it was the large “broadcast” meetings that gave opportunity to God to bring people who were hungry for spiritual things.
Shouting the Word “from the housetops” has always been one of God’s methods of mass distribution of the Gospel. Today we have many such means available to us through modern technology. Television, the web, satellite radio and T.V. are some of those means.
Technology gives the church the opportunity to “send the Word” around the globe in an instant. Quickly the world is “shrinking” as technology makes information readily available. Our understanding of other cultures and philosophies is no longer held in the obscurity of ignorance. Walls of separation come down between peoples as their fear is quelled often through just seeing what the other is doing.
Our television broadcast CONTACT is now seen effectively around the world and in our own backyard. As this article is being published we are taking a quantum leap forward with the completion of construction on our brand new, state of the art television studio. We will now be able to even more effectively communicate the truths of the Word through the use of various format techniques. A “fireside chat” with the Word in hand will be a wonderful way to bridge the gap of understanding to people on the other side of the world.
Your faithful support has brought us quickly along in development in theses short three years. God now has us positioned to do more effective broadcasting of the Gospel.
The fruit that comes from preaching the Word is the actual Kingdom of God itself. The “seed” that Jesus spoke of was the Kingdom in its most basic form. When that Word gains entrance into the human spirit, is believed and acted upon, that person is born again by that same Word. The Word is the seed that builds the Kingdom.
You don’t necessarily need to be a preacher yourself to “build the Kingdom.” Your financial support of a Gospel effort like CONTACT facilitates casting the seed on “many waters.” The fruit will eventually “come in on every wave.” We as believers work together as a team that God has formed to “win the game.”
If you are still on the “sidelines” I want to encourage you in the strongest way to take your place on the team. The Apostle Paul explained to the Corinthians that after there were reached with the Gospel and had grown and become strong, that they should then become those who helped the effort financially to reach “beyond them.” He also taught that a person who had become a recipient of a spiritual blessing was obligated to reciprocate with a natural blessing. This is the way God keeps the work going.
Giving is also the way God brings blessing to you financially. If you sow a financial seed in the work of the Kingdom, God reciprocates and brings it back to you multiplied. He wants to bless you personally, but He also wants to put more seed into the hand of you the sower. You then become a “Builder of the Kingdom.”
Take the step today to become a CONTACT Partner, and “get in the game.”
